As some of you already know, we are aiming to release new dedicated HTML versions of Imagevue, starting from next release Imagevue 2.8. The point of this is not to eliminate the Flash gallery, but primarily to fill in the demand created by new mobile platforms (eg. iphone+iOs / Android), as well as new "tablet" devices (eg. iPad / galaxytab) that either do not support Flash, or simply do not work well with Flash (eg. touchscreen). We also wish to create the new Html gallery as an evolving fundament for something which might in time be desirable enough to replace the flash gallery, or at least provide a highly competitive choice of frontend for gallery/portfolio owners.
There is already a html "fallback" version in Imagevue that displays on non-flash devices, or you can choose it to replace the flash gallery altogether. However, there has not been much focus from our side earlier to make the html version as cool and elegant as a standalone gallery in its own right, but this is about to change. There will mainly be two new design factors:
1. Imagevue Html for small-screen mobile devices (smartphones), that simply do not have much room for excessive interface elements.
2. Imagevue Html for large-screen devices like tablets, but also as a feasible replacement option to the flash gallery. *
Html5?
Imagevue already uses html5, but there will be more focus on this for the new html version. You can be sure that Imagevue will be using the latest frontend technologies like jQuery and CSS3 ...
WE WANT YOUR SUGGESTIONS!
So where does this lead us? Basically, we invite you to post links to elegant/cool/inspiring Html-based galleries, that we might factor ideas from before we design our very own cool standalone html-gallery. Also, please post any suggestions about features you would like to see in the new html gallery. Help shape the future Imagevue html core design!
*We are mainly looking for ideas about the html gallery, but not the smartphone platform as we already have this covered to an extent, and also because the layout for smartphones is slightly limited in terms of design/UI. Also, we will not be able to answer questions about minor features in this future version.
Simply post your links, comments and suggestions in this thread!
