How to hide the filename?

07 Dec 2008, 08:55

When image is shown, the filename appears above the image. I looked arround in the configuration everywhere but i cannot find any possibility to switch it off.
How can i hide this?

You need to go to admin -> config -> text.text1.items - This feature lists all the "textitems" to display in your description. By default, it's set to title+description. Simply remove the title -

Keep in mind, it is only showing "filename" because you haven't given the file a title yet. You can give titles to files from the admin -> manage section.

I want the image title to appear when one is present, but do not want the filename to appear. Is that possible?

Karl, I'd sure like an option to only display titles, not filenames. With large galleries, it's a lot of work to individually add a "space" title to each image to prevent the filename from appearing.

I see what you are asking for, but our intention of having TITLE available in the first place was just to improve international character compatibility for filenames. In our eyes TITLE=FILENAME, just an alias.

In the flash, it just reads the TITLE... Title is filename, unless a custom title is set. If we are going to work around this, we would have to change some core parts of the system, so it needs to be considered.

Thanks; I see how it developed. From a user's point of view, the TITLE is important for viewer information and filename is not important to the viewer but is instead distracting.

Hmm maybe we should make an option for this then?
We'll tell you how to disable auto-titling bit later.

Turned out its not easy to just remove it, we gonna try to add it to the upcoming release as an option or to the next one.

An option would be great, whenever you can. Thanks.

This option is hereby added, and let me just give the full details on how it works.

Autotitling
By default, Imagevue uses the filename as title, until you add your own title from the admin. By going to admin -> settings, and setting autoTitling OFF, default titles will be EMPTY until you add them from admin. This means, you can have some images display in the gallery with title, while others have nothing.

Will enjoy giving it a test. Waiting on the new release :-)

I may be slower to respond this next week; am leaving to visit family for a week (taking laptop, but won't be online as often).
